Arc Receives Transportation Grant

2/26/2010

The Arc has received a $45,000 grant from the Marion I. and Henry J. Knott Foundation to partially fund transportation expenses to take clients to and from their jobs.

The Arc currently supports 94 people through several vocational programs in both paid and volunteer positions.  Those served in these programs work part time and are typically transported to The Arc each morning and then to their work sites as their work schedules require.  The state funding they receive does not include round trip transportation to the work site from The Arc.

In FY2010 The Arc budgeted $64,000 to support this unfunded service, but due to growth in the program it is expected to cost over $80,000.  The grant will fully fund approximately isx months of vocational transportation.  Additional grants are being pursued to help fund this vital program.
